The 71st Eccleshall Show had glorious weather and near record attendance on Saturday September 1 at The Parks showground, Sugnall, Eccleshall.
The hard work of the committee and volunteers preparing for the show and the hard work on the day (and the clearing up on the Sunday afterwards) paid off with many trade stalls, food hall, children’s fun fair, main arena attractions, record numbers of classic vehicles of all types and sizes and of course the Gymkhana show.
The Horticultural and Crafts marquee was heaving with exhibits of all types, the number of photographic entries were almost triple the numbers of previous years and the vegetables and floral entries were records.
The many stalls from voluntary and charity organisations gave the visitors plenty of variety to visit and games to take part in, raising funds for themselves and the people they support.
The Lord Lieutenant of the County Ian Dudson and his wife Jane were visitors at the show for most of the day, and Member of Parliament Sir Bill Cash was a visitor.
The number of people and organisations to be thanked for their efforts would be enormous and we would be in danger of missing someone off the list. The show could not be staged without the help of the many volunteers who give of their time freely every year.
The success of this year’s event ensures that the 72nd event will be sure to take part in 2019. See you there!
